CT Students Celebrated WORLD TOURISM DAY -2011

Besides this, it was the presence of 92.7 Big FM –Suno Sunao Life Banao - team and their RJs Mr. Gurjit & Mr. Pankaj on this occasion that made the Day a remarkable event with a variety of cultural items, jokes and mimicry presented by their team. Model display contest, slogan writing contest, folk song contest, folk dance contests were some of the events organized to mark this occasion. The students made models on different themes including adventure sports, monuments, rail tourism, space tourism, cultural tourism, pilgrimage tourism etc. likewise. The slogan writing contest was held on the theme of eco-tourism and environment. Students also performed various folk songs of different states including that of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, etc. Folk dances were also performed on this occasion. These included Bhangra, Gidha, Nati, etc. The students were dressed in their traditional attire representing their state giving a carnival feel in the atmosphere. Apart from these events, various guest performances were also given.

In a well fought contest of slogan writing Nidhi, Himadri and Dinesh stood first, second and third respectively. In model making contest Joshua Joy & Sushil, Sahil & Ankush and Nishant & Gorav got first position, second position and third position respectively. In folk song contest Deepika, Vachitar Mani Sharma and Harish were declared first, second and third respectively and in the folk dance solo Narinder was declared first. In folk dance group event Sukhwinder & Group got the first prize, Harish & Navdeep got second prize and Vincy and Group got third prize.

On the occasion Mrs. Parminder Kaur Channi and Mrs. Tanika Channi were the chief guests and they wished ‘Happy World Tourism Day’ to every one present on the occasion.

Announcing the results of various contests and felicitating all the winners and contestants of the Day Dr. Ashwani Kansra, Director CT Group, Maqsudan Campus said that the basic purpose to celebrate this day across the world is to create awareness among international community about the role of tourism in fostering. International relationship and improving social, cultural, political and economic values among persons belong to different nationalities.

Stating further, he said that there are good job opportunities for the students in the hospitality sector in the years to come as the tourism industry in India is growing rapidly with many new concepts like heritage tourism, medical tourism, wild life tourism evolving over a period of time especially in India.
In a valedictory session Principal CTIHM, Prof. Syed Akhtar Abbas presented medals and certificates of appreciation to the winners and expressed that India has emerged as one of the best tourist destination in the world. He conveyed his special thanks to Mr. Vineet Gupta, Asstt. Prof. and his team mates for organizing this event successfully. He also expressed his gratitude to 92.7 Big FM team and their Radio Jockeys for participating in this event.
