CT Group organized “Meri Pagri Meri Shaan” Contest


To promote Punjabi tradition and culture among the students, the CT Group of Institutions organized “Meri Pagri Meri Shaan” a turban tying competition at its Shahpur Campus in which as many as 150 students of various Institutions of the Campus participated. Competition was organized for the two age groups i.e. 12-16 and 17-25 years.
The participants were to tie a Pagri in the best way in the allotted time. The judges have to judge the best one based on the look and style of the turban. It was a nice show to see a large crowd of students tying turbans collectively on the stage. At the same time, it was a difficult task for the judges to declare the best ones out of them as all were looking equally smart with best of their colour combinations.
Considering various aspects linked with turban tying techniques, the judges finally adjudged Mr. Ishnoor Singh the best performer of the event, followed by Mr. Jaskaran and Mr. Maninderpal being the second and third in row respectively in the age group of 12-16 years. Two consolation prizes were also awarded in this category to Mr. Manvir and Mr. Inderpreet.
The judges finally adjudged Mr. Amanpreet the best performer of the event in the age group of 17-25 years, followed by Mr. Damanjeet and Mr. Damanpreet being the second and third in row respectively. Two consolation prizes were also given to Mr. Gurpreet and Mr. Jaskaran in the second category. Announcing the names of the winners, the organizers of the event reiterated the object of this contest and that was to attach the modern generation with rich Punjabi traditions and its glorious past. Moreover, it gave a message to youth that Pagri is a real Shaan of a person and they must show respect to each one’s Pagri.
Finally the prizes were awarded to the winners of the contest by S. Charanjit Singh Channi, Chairman CT Group with a word of advice to give due respect to the Pagri. He thanked everyone present on the occasion especially to the organizers of the event. Present on the occasion were Dr. Manoj Kumar, Group Director, all the Principals and Faculty of CT Group of Institutions.
